Vanilla Chai Sugar Scrub

Vanilla and Chai…mmmm…. Two of my favorite smells in the world! I also love sugar scrubs!

The recipe I used was organically from this site. The originally recipe is double this. I cut it in half for easy bathroom/shower storage. I cut the recipe in half for easier storage in the batheroom/storage. I also changed parts of it. My recipe is as follows:

Vanilla Chai Sugar Scrub
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
~ 6 grams of Chai Tea or 3 tea bags full
1/2 tsp honey
~1/3 cup of oil
1/2 tsp REAL vanilla

Combine sugars with contents of chai tea bags and cinnamon. Pour mixture into container then add honey and oil and mix well. Add oil until your desired consistency is reached, then finish by mixing in the vanilla.

I use only real vanilla. Artificial vanilla would work also but I don’t like the alcohol smell that it has with it.

Then there is the oil. You can use olive oil if you want. I usually make it with olive oil but it is not my favorite my oil to use on the body. The reason being that it absorbs slowly into the skin, which leaves you feeling slick until then. I also don’t like the smell that it has. It’s fine for cooking but I don’t like it for skin use. Some other oils that would work better are Apricot, Camellia, Grape Seed, Hemp, Jojoba, Meadow Flower, and Passion Fruit. These oils absorb faster into the skin then olive oil. I also eyeball the oil quantity. I like my sugar scrubs a little dry when I use them. Some people use it as a moisturizer which is a great use for it! I like it better for the scrub power; especially right before shaving.

Enjoy this is fun and delicately scented scrub. This would also make a great gift for someone.
