Bathroom Update 4

Oh this bathroom. I have a love hate relationship with this bathroom. So when I left off we had it painted, back what, 2013? Well we have finally “finished” it; only 2 projects left!

Counter Top!Bathroom Counter
The worst part of this entire project! So to try and save a few hundred dollars we bought a solid top and decided to cut our own sink and faucet spots. The sink spot is a little off centered and Hubby used it as a Tool Buying excuse; he bought a router and we have used it for many other project 🙂 After many many plywood trails he finally cut it! It made a disaster of a mess!! It’s a solid surface counter top and when cut into, it’s little counter top particles are so fine that when they landed it was white dust on everything! The best to clean it up is with a vacuum because when whipped off with a damp sponge it clumps together and is a pain to wring off. Lesson learned though, next time spend the money to have them cut it.

We decided to refinish the cabinets. After having the kitchen bid done, Home Depot bid on it, on it for a refinishing job we knew we were either doing it ourselves or not at all! It wasn’t that hard for Hubby to do. He stripped, stained, and pollyed all the cabinets and new drawer fronts. Our friend built us new drawers so that saved a few dollars for us. It was time consuming because of the fronts and drawers and only doing it on evenings and weekend. However, it looks 100% better than when we started with them.

Bathroom WallAll in all the bathroom is complete-ish. We, I, have 1 for sure project left and 1 maybe. I want to bring the English Blue down from the crown molding and onto the walls to better incorporate that color.
Looking at doing a swag drape curtain thing over the bathtub and maybe getting towels for that bathroom. If I do the towels I will also get a bronzed rack holder for them to go in.

The other thing we are contemplating is the shower head. If we do that one I also want to ripe out the crappy shower wrap and replace it. But, we have to agree to spend the $300 on the shower head tub fixture first before we start the debt on the shower.

I truly didn’t think it would take this long to do this room and the biggest hold up was the cabinets and making the decision to pay or DIY. I’m glad we did the DIY route as we are now better prepared to do the rest of the cabinets in the house.
